Guidelines to follow while buying an old phone

Everyone wishes to buy a brand new high-end phone. As the prices of smartphones are increasing each day, it is not possible for everyone to buy a new smartphone. Normally, popular high-end phones are priced above Rs 30,000 to 40,000. This is the reason why a lot of people prefer buying second hand or old phones. According to a study, India's smartphone market is growing real fast. A lot of people buy refurbished phones instead of the new phones.

While a lot of sellers sell genuine second-hand products, there are fraudulent sellers who cheat people online in the name of selling second-hand phones. As the number of such cases is on the rise, we will discuss certain things to keep in mind while buying a second hand phone.

Things to keep in mind while buying an old phone

1. Verify the sellers

Before purchasing a second-hand phone on any portal, verify if the seller is genuine. This is because there are many fake sellers out there who cheat people in the name of second-hand phones. Once the payment is collected, fraudsters simply disappear.

2. There are chances of you being sold a stolen phone

If someone is in a hurry to sell a smartphone, there are chances that the phone may have been stolen. In case you buy a stolen phone or try to sell it, you would land in a difficult situation.

3. Cash payment

If the seller is forcing you to make cash payment, you have to be careful. This is because if you make a cash payment, there will be no record of it.

4. Avoid making advance payment

If the seller is forcing you to make an advance payment, it is advisable not to do so.  Some sellers ask you to pay half the amount now and the remaining amount at delivery. If you make the advance payment; they run away. After receiving the payment, there are chances of the seller blocking your number.

5. Avoid making payment through a QR code

You have to be really careful while making a payment to the seller through QR code. This is because you are not sure to whom the payment is made.

6. Beware of too good to be true offers

Beware of the offers which are too good to be true. This means if the seller is selling a high-end phone at a very low price, something’s wrong.
