The PAN Card is a vital document required for various financial operations such as opening a savings bank account, investing in stocks and mutual funds, applying for a credit card, filing IT returns, and so on. Aside from that, your employer will require you to produce your PAN card. As a result, having a PAN card is required.
PAN stands for Permanent Account Number and is a 10-digit alphanumeric number assigned to an individual, HUF, or organization by the Income Tax Department. Applying for a PAN card is a simple process that may be completed online.
While many people apply for PAN cards online, there is a risk of online fraud via bogus websites. So, to protect new PAN Card applicants against online fraud, the Income Tax Department issued a warning on its website. This guideline clarifies the situation for PAN card applicants.
The IT department provided the information on the entities authorized to carry out the procedures for processing PAN applications. According to the advice, the department has granted only NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited (NSDL e- Gov) and UTI Infrastructure Technologies the authority to process PAN applications. Other than these two entities, no one else has the authority to carry out processes on their behalf.
If applicants find the process of applying for a PAN card perplexing, they can contact the department by emailing tininfo@nsdl.co.in.
The agency has also reminded applicants that the department is not liable if they lose money due to applying for a PAN card through any fraudulent websites. "PAN applicants using NSDL e-online Gov's services are at this moment advised to ensure that they use the abovementioned online facility of NSDL e-Gov exclusively through the URL above and pay the application processing cost as required by ITD," the advice stated.
It went on to say, "PAN candidates who use any prohibited URLs do so at their own risk and with their own repercussions." NSDL e- Gov will not be accountable for any loss or damage that PAN applicants may experience or incur directly or indirectly when engaging with such unlawful individuals/entities and persons/officers/directors/staff linked with such organizations."
